Surgical abortion is performed with local anesthesia and light sedation. The entire procedure lasts about 5 to 10 minutes. There are no cuts or incisions—it’s not a big surgery. The procedure is very safe, with a less than 1% complication rate. We perform surgical abortions up to 15 weeks, 6 days.
